Thomas Klein International is appointed as F&B consultant for El Seref Tourism and Hospitality project in Khartoum

Thomas Klein International has been appointed to conceptualise the food and beverage offering of the El Seref project, a site spanning 40,000 square feet including terraces offering expansive views across the Nile.

The project, due to open early next year, is owned and managed by El Seref Tourism and Hospitality, and the total investment inclusive of interiors and kitchen fit-out is estimated at approximately $8 million.

"The site was originally planned to be the ballroom of a five-star hotel, to be built by El Seref Tourism and Hospitality, however, the local market's needs shifted during the construction of the site, and the owner decided to re-visit the usage of the building," said Daniel During, Managing Partner of Thomas Klein International.

"We definitely have a very large area to work with, and our initial task will be to study the location and the market, and to estimate the potential demand of the location. The biggest task now is to devise exciting concepts for such a big space."

El Seref restaurant will be situated on a prime location on the riverbed of an historical site on the Nile in Omdurman, 200 meters from the confluence of the White and Blue Nile.

"This is definitely a very interesting project for us, as Omdurman was the ancient capital of Sudan, and the restaurant will be situated on the exact location of the site where the last battle against the British was fought," added During.

"When you visit the site you are still able to see the walls that protected the fighters on the site when the troops were led by Al Mahdi."

"Due to the location of the project, we are working on a concept that will position El Seref as a destination restaurant for both locals and tourists," concluded During.

"The complexity of the project, the sheer size and uniqueness of the site, and the fact that it will be a first of its kind in the region, and a totally new concept to the Sudanese public, makes this a very special project," said Mr. Abdel Rahim El Sadig, the General Manager of El Seref Tourism and Hospitality.

"This, coupled with the high level of investment of the project, meant that we had to select a highly-capable F&B consultant with a proven track record to manage the project. We therefore decided to partner with Thomas Klein International on this project, as we felt they fulfil all the pre-requisites in managing our investment successfully," concluded El Sadig.

Thomas Klein International has been operating in the region since 2001, and provides professional consultancy services specialising in the hospitality, entertainment and leisure sectors, with a strong emphasis on food and beverage operations.

Thomas Klein International has worked on a variety of projects for prestigious clients in the past including; Al Samadi Sweets and Café, Butcher's Den and Prime and Toast restaurants for The Sultan Group, as well as Sharjah's tourist destination -Qanat Al Qasbah; Spazio restaurant at Prince Walid bin Talal's Kingdom Tower; Dubai Industrial City Central Production Kitchen; Dubai Media City retail areas; and various independent and hotel restaurants including projects for Le Royal Meridian Abu Dhabi, Four Seasons Riyadh, Moevenpick Hotel Oud Metha Dubai and Wafi City.

Curtains and Soft Furnishing Design Course

About our Curtains and Soft Furnishing Design Courses

There are many books and courses available that will teach you how to make curtains and soft furnishings. Limperts Academy of Design offers the first curtains and soft furnishing course of it’s kind that will teach you how to design curtains and soft furnishings rather than make them.

When most people think about decorating, they automatically look at walls and large surface areas first, but curtains and soft furnishings are important design details in our homes and interiors, bringing warmth, comfort and a sense of luxury that can’t be matched by anything else.

Fabric has been used throughout history to add colour and style instantly, and today’s modern production methods present us with more choices now than at any previous time in our history. While this is wonderful in many ways, unlimited options make it easier for the novice designer to make a mistake, and with the high cost of fabrics and labour this is an expensive lesson that few people can afford to bear.

The good news is that knowledge is power. With a sound understanding of soft furnishing construction and the many ways in which fabrics can be combined, it’s easy to design for any style and budget. This curtains and soft furnishings course will show you how to combine practicality with creativity so you can design with confidence …

A curtains and soft furnishing designer does not necessarily make soft furnishings themselves (although many do), but they understand how various items are made and fitted, and they know how to use simple techniques to help their clients achieve a co-ordinated interior that is unique and tailored to their individual style.

Whether you want to design curtains and soft furnishings for yourself or your clients, the knowledge you will gain on this soft furnishings and curtains design course will help you to design treatments to suit any style, décor and budget.

The following pages provide a brief overview of what you can expect to learn on this course in curtains and soft furnishings design.
